What is Laparoscopic Gallbladder Surgery?

This surgery is the process of removing the gallbladder with the laparoscopic method (closed).

This is more common in people who have obesity problems, those who gain and lose weight rapidly, those with diabetes, those who use estrogen, those who have a genetic predisposition, those who have given birth multiple times and those who use cholesterol medication. Some of the symptoms of gallbladder diseases are:

  • Fever

  • Back pain

  • Diarrhea

  • Pain in the upper part of the abdomen that appears suddenly and accelerates

  • Darkening of urine color

  • Light colored stool

  • Pain in the right shoulder

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Excessive gas formation, bloating, indigestion and gas pain

When these and similar symptoms occur, it is absolutely necessary to be examined. Thus, the disease is detected early and treatment is started early.

How is Laparoscopic Gallbladder Surgery Performed?

First, the patient is examined and, if deemed appropriate, surgery is decided. Since it is applied with the closed method, a few small incisions of 1 cm are made on the patient's abdomen. In order to see the area better through this incision, the patient's abdomen is inflated with gas. Thin tube-shaped laparoscopic instruments with a camera at the end are inserted through the other incision. In this way, all operations can be performed by watching them on the television screen.

What Should Be Considered After Laparoscopic Gallbladder Surgery?

The patient is discharged one day after the operation. The hospital stay of patients with other chronic diseases may be prolonged for several days. The patient is mobilized on average 4 hours after the procedure. The first day begins with liquid nutrition, the next day can be switched to solid food. The patient should be fed little and often. Pain control is provided with painkillers. Extremely fatty, spicy, acidic and gas-producing foods should be avoided. Alcohol, cigarettes and coffee should be avoided. Dissolving sutures are generally used. Sports activities can be started after 1 month.
